SIAMSA A Celtic Christmas 2024

STAGE MAKEUP for the GRAND THEATER at GSR from 2018

Stage make up for a large proscenium stage, such as the Grand Theater is very different than performance make-up for a regular size proscenium stage and extremely

different than make-up for Television and Photos.

STAGE MAKE-UP for SIAMSA at GSR

BASE FOUNDATION: A shade or two darker than you would normally use for evening / And Powder to prevent shine

SHADING & HIGHLIGHTING: to contour and highlight cheek bones: Use a strong rose color for highlights

EYES: SHADOWS should be tawny - browns. NO Blues or fancy colors.

EYEBROWS: Must be definite/ defined to frame face

EYELINER: Black and uplifting... also under eye

MASCARA: Black

EYELASHES: for Holly, the Senior dancers and Vocalists, Fiddler Macie and Harpist

LIPS: Use a red lipliner to outline and define. LIPSTICK must be fire engine red (bright).

Please do not use dark red lipstick...(it thins the lip appearance on stage)

MAKE UP for SATURDAY and SUNDAY at the Studio for RUN THROUGHS...

Definitely Toned down for photos: Use daytime foundation base, use lighter eyelashes, same red lipstick.

SOFTER look all over.

HAIR

As directed for each number.

Dancers be careful to make sure that your ponytails are strong and tight and fixed into a bun that does not

move. Hair nets are essential and we have some available at Dancin! Togs here at studio

Wigs must have STRONG grasp clips and extra "crowbar' hairpins.(also avail. at Studio)

NO WISPIES

Vocalists hair must be larger and elegant.

ALL DANCERS MUST WEAR BLACK DANCE BRIEFS (Not Bootie Shorts) UNDER THEIR COSTUME & OVER THEIR TIGHTS.

SNOWFLAKE GIRLS MUST WEAR PINK TIGHTS UNDER THEIR WHITE LEOTARDS AND VERY CLEAN OR NEW PINK BALLETS. NO LACES OR TIES SHOWING.

WE DO HAVE SOME LOANERS AT THE STUDIO THAT ARE IN OK CONDITION AS WELL AS BRAND NEW HARDSHOES THAT PEOPLE ORDERED AND DID NOT FIT.

THE VERY WEE IRISH DANCERS IN RED DRESSES IN THE "VILLAGE OF THE WEE" CAN WEAR REGULAR BLACK BALLETS, WITH WHITE POPCORN SOX.

THE CANDLE KIDS SHOULD WEAR EITHER BLACK GHILLIES OR BLACK BALLETS OR BLACK MARYJANE STYLE STREET SHOE with WHITE SOX.

WIGS:

PLEASE CHECK WITH MS. MANDY REGARDING THE STYLE OF WIG FOR YOUR COSTUME.

PeeWees & Wees & Candle Kids: Bouncy curly (almost ringlets)10" long from WIG WORLD on Virginia Street (next to Fed Ex - the Sports West Center)

Juniors may be better with the 12" wigs....

Seniors need the longer wavy hair pieces, (less curly). Must have a grip clip inside for quick costume changes

Juliet Dress/ Juliet neck choker/Tan tights/White Popcorn Sox/ Clean black ghillies with neat secure elastic/ Hair up as Half Up - Half down with lower hair in two neat buns secured with stage hair pins and hairnets. Gold rosettes in each bun

Vocalists:

Flamencos:

Black Flamenco leotard/ Black & Red flamenco skirt/ Tan tights/ Black character shoes/ Hair in low bun with red rose secured on lower right side.
